About Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a holistic field of medicine that uses micro doses of potentised substances found in nature and aims to stimulate the body’s natural capacity to heal itself.
It is a holistic approach in that it is complete; it seeks to treat physical, mental, emotional, even spiritual issues whether they are chronic or acute.
Homeopathic remedies are most commonly made from mineral, plant, chemical and sometimes animal substances and are tailored to each individual patient according to their specific needs.
Because the remedies are prepared using micro-dilution it means they are very safe for anybody to use including babies, children and pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
Homeopathy is founded on the Law of Similars - the principal of 'like cures like' - which was rediscovered by a German physician, Samuel Hahnemann, around 1800. The principle is based on the observation that substances which cause symptoms can also be used to cure them, except in a much diluted form.
It is generally safe to have homeopathy alongside conventional treatment and I will encourage you to keep in contact with your GP where necessary especially where a diagnosis could be beneficial.
Homeopathy is one of the largest and most popular system of medicine in the world.
In 2004, the World Health Organization stated that homeopathy was the second most used medical system worldwide.
What happens in a Homeopathic Consultation?
I thought it would be useful to tell you a little bit about how I work especially if you're new to Homeopathy.
As you may have already seen I offer a free 15 minute chat. This is an informal introduction that helps me to understand your needs and whether or not I feel I can help you and whether or not you feel I'm right for you!
If your complaint is an acute one then we will set a time and date for the consult as soon as we can, either online or face to face. Once I have prescribed a Homeopathic remedy for you then I will either post it to you or if I do not have it in stock then I will ask you to order it yourself from a trusted and reputable Homeopathic Pharmacy.
If your complaint is more of a chronic or long-standing nature then I may send you a questionnaire to fill out that will help me understand more about the reason for your visit. This saves us time in the actual consult and allows me to do some fine tuning of your prescription.
Depending on the nature of your complaint(s) we will keep in touch on a weekly basis in order to monitor your progress and arrange follow-up sessions as and when necessary.
Ideally, once health is restored then you will no longer need to see a homoeopath unless a new issue arises.
